Over the last month I had what astrologists would refer to as a "Tower Moment". Life was going great. Home life was good, my son's are doing fantastic, I was 5 days into my 21 Day Water Fast and highly motivated. Then my tower at work began to collapse! Various factors played into this overwhelming feeling of never ending bad news each day I arrived at work. I went through a conglomerate of emotions, frustrations, highs and lows, and moments of defeat. But in my spirit there is always a light at the end of the tunnel! Let's be honest, Management isn't for everyone and my ability to adapt to changes and overcome obstacles are necessary attributes I must possess.
Now that the light is shining bright again and my optimism conquered my pessimism, I thought I'd share some actions you should take and some you shouldn't take when you experience those "Tower Moments" throughout your journey.

What Not To Do:
Let me start with what not to do during your tower moments because this is the side of the spectrum that lean towards negativity and pessimism.
Do Not beat yourself up! Every one makes mistakes and your ability to learn from them is what helps you grow.
Do Not make rash decisions in the moment that you don't really believe in. For example, don't quit your job, or partake in activities that are dangerous, or engage in interactions that you will regret sooner than later.
Do Not sink in your sorrows day after day watching tv, eating ice cream, and consuming alcohol.
Do Not call that person who is already a negative thinker who will help you feed deeper into your anger, sadness, or frustration because that will have a snowball effect on how you're feeling. The snowball will definitely become a snowman! Solutions need to follow the venting session and most negative people lack solutions.
Do Not give up! This may be the most important "Don't". The fact that you're breathing another day is enough to reassure you that you'll survive and you're stronger and more able than you believe.

What To Do:
Now here's where the goodies come in! Here's what to do when you need to get out of your funk during those ugly tower moments.
Do take a moment to reflect on what the issues/concerns are. Write them down on one side of a piece of paper. Then on the other side of that paper write down possible solutions. Nothing makes you feel better quicker than coming up with a plan.
Do vent/speak with your support system. That will look different for each person. This support can come from your friend, family, co-workers, or mentor. Just make sure it is someone that tends to have knowledge in the area of concern and tends to see the glass half full more than half empty. (Choose your vent audience wisely)
Do acknowledge how much you've accomplished so far. Really. Self acknowledgement will help you feel unstuck because you'll be able to realize that if you made it this far, nothing can stop you.
Do get back to doing what you love to do as soon as you can to snap out of feeling overwhelmed or stressed. For me, it was writing again. I didn't sit at my computer one time in the last month. So writing this blog feels really good getting back into my groove while listening to some feel good music. For you, that may be hitting the gym, walking daily, spending time with your friends or family members again. When you go through those challenging times it's easy to become a recluse.
Do wholeheartedly believe that everything happens for a reason. Whether you're in that situation to grow or maybe redirect to shift you towards new opportunities, the outcome will be the best. It can be hard to view it from that perspective while going through it, but make an effort to take an optimistic view.
Let's face it, we will experience a ton of tower moments throughout our lives. How we deal with those moments will determine our personal evolution and expansion during our individual journey's. Be mindful of your decisions and actions during those challenging moments. I know that I'll continue to face tower moments as long as I'm working in Management so through each obstacle I overcome, I will continue to grow and be able to deal with the upcoming towers in a more effective and efficient way. I hope that you all will utilize some of my tips to get through your moments. Have a wonderful day folks!
Sending you all Love, Peace, and Light!
Sincerely,
Carrie P.
